The Set-Apart Campaign was designed specifically to draw attention to CURE at UGA by increasing our awareness on campus. We held the campaign a week before Spring Shag, and concentrated our efforts all around the SLC and Tate Center in order to try to include as many students as possible.
The premise of the campaign was to live one day in the life of a person (like CURE children) whom is set-apart based purely on physical differences. Every member of CURE at UGA wore hand-made shirts advertising the campaign, as well as the words Set-Apart written in red on our foreheads. To say the least, it was a very humbling experience. We were able to gain a lot of support and attention on campus from this campaign but the true benefit was learning what it felt like to be outcasted by your peers, even if it was only for one day.
This year, we are doing the "So They Can" Campaign for the two weeks leading up to Spring Shag (April 6). We are starting with a Day of Service at Tate on March 21st and then starting March 22 we are giving up something for two weeks "So They Can"! Join with us in spreading awareness for these children around the world!!
Dates:
March 21 - Day of Service at Tate
March 22 - state "So They Can" Campaign
March 31 - Pizza on Brumby Beach (7-9), street painting at midnight
April 3,4,5 - Days at Tate Plaza 9-3
April 6 - SPRING SHAG!!!
